While currently overshadowed in popularity by older models in Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker series, the Air Jordan 13 continues playing an important part in the legend’s legacy.
Although the sneaker, designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1997, hasn’t had a quiet 2022, it’s had a rather uninteresting year considering it turned 25. Global logistical issues likely played a role in the Air Jordan’s lackluster celebration, but Team Jumpman seems poised to continue the festivities well into next year as word of upcoming colorways have surfaced over the last few weeks. Several reliable sources within the sneaker leaker space have shared that a “Black Flint” style of the Jordan 13 will release as part of Jordan Brand’s retro run for Summer 2023. Based on the fan-favorite “Flint Grey” look that debuted in ‘98 (and seen again in 2005, 2010, and 2020), the rumored colorway replaces “Navy” dimpled mesh across the profiles with a pitch “Black” counterpart. The remainder of the sneaker is expected to keep to its standard “White” and “Flint Grey” arrangement, making for a modern update to a classic ensemble.
No firm Nike SNKRS launch details have been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy an extremely early mock-up of the retro here, courtesy of Instagram user @zSneakerHeadz.
