Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated drops of the season, the Air Jordan 1 “Georgetown” (AKA “College Navy”) draws inspiration from Michael Jordan’s college days. Specifically, the colorway looks back on March 29th, 1982, the day MJ lead the Tar Heels to victory against the Georgetown Hoyas.
Though it helps mark the 40th Anniversary of the championship game — and thus MJ’s title-winning moment over the Bulldogs — the release doesn’t celebrate the victor. Instead, Georgetown’s signature colors are applied to Peter Moore’s beloved silhouette, which herein touts a construction more akin to its 1985 counterparts.
Sat atop a white midsole unit, the colorway combines both “College Navy” and “Tech Grey,” the latter of which dresses both the base as well as the Wings logo along the collar. The neutral’s blue-toned complement is placed over top, coloring in the Swoosh as well as the adjacent overlays. Additionally, to stay in line with the ’85 theme, the tongue is treated with a subtle yellowed finish, giving off the feel of a shoe far older.
