We knew what JJJJound had in store for 2022 even well before the start of the year. That, however, didn’t make the launch of their BAPE STA any less exciting, as the collaboration very quickly flew off the shelves. The same is sure to be said following the release of the imprint’s upcoming New Balance 990v3, which is slated to land first this Thursday.
With the JJJJound x New Balance 990v3’s debut, the partnership as a whole comes full circle, making its way back to the shoe that effectively started it all. And though familiar in this regard, the colorway itself is quite subversive of the Montreal-based design studio’s norm, as it incorporates far more color than is typical of past offerings. Through both the premium suede and mesh inserts, a bright olive takes the helm, complemented by darker greens along the leather trims. Greys and silvers, then, mark the eyelets, tongue, and heel tab, while the sole below alternates between a bright white and a vintage-like cream. As for the branding, JJJJound’s name only appears twice: along the rear and the insole.
