Although first released in 1994, the Reebok Instapump Fury was undoubtedly ahead of its time, as few (if any) silhouettes since then have captured the anti-status quo modus operandi conjured by Steven Smith. And while the shoe continues to revisit the archives to bring its heritage to the modern day, it’s taking a break to blend past and future via a surprising collaboration with Hanna-Barbera animation studio.
Seemingly a play on “The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones,” a cross-over film made for television in 1987, each shoe in the upcoming pair features a mix of details pertaining to either the Jetson or Flintstone family. Pattern-donning underlays nod to the pre-historic outfits seen throughout “The Flintstones,” while pristine chrome-reminiscent tones like those portrayed in “The Jetsons” take over much of the upper’s profiles. Supporting cast members from both series also lend their likeness to Reebok‘s latest collaboration, with PUMP components on the top of the tongue following style cues from both beloved North American cartoon programs. Underfoot, the future-forward sole unit indulges in a mostly black and white color combination, allowing the theme-specific touches up-top to steal the show.
