2022 so far has mostly been about the Air Force 1, as the classic did just turn 40-years-old. But in between the Stussy and Louis Vuitton collabs, the brand is concurrently celebrating yet another milestone: 35 years of Air Max. And if not for this upcoming Air Max 90, which touts said year and “32c Scream Green” several times, it’s likely the anniversary would have flew under the radar.
Denim, a fabric as timeless as the AM90 itself, wraps the quarter, vamp, and heel tab in a dark, non-distressed indigo. The color will likely fade and wear over time, though, as is typical of the material in its raw state. Its blues may even bleed onto the white mesh along the toe and collar, while the black, subtly patterned mudguard and “Volt” accents go unaffected. Custom branding, such as the diamond and “32C” markings on the tongue and insole, are far less straightforward, and their meaning will surely be uncovered once Nike officially introduces the shoe.
